Hand-Turned Bowls & Vessels
Made from locally rescued Central Valley Trees
Every Piece Begins as a Tree. No Two Are the Same.
Bowls
Turned from locally salvaged Central Valley wood and finished for real life. Fruit bowls, serving pieces, and everyday pieces that bring warmth to your kitchen and character to your table.
Lidded Vessels
Julia's most sculptural work. Each lidded vessel is shaped entirely by hand, with turned finials and natural grain that make every piece a conversation. Decorative enough for a mantel. Meaningful enough to pass down.
Hollow Forms
Quiet, organic, and completely one of a kind. Hollow forms follow the wood wherever it wants to go — and find a home on shelves, nightstands, entryways, and anywhere a space needs something real.
About the Maker
Julia Tinker has spent 30 years working wood — and the last seven turning it into something people can't stop staring at. She works from her garage shop in Fresno, salvaging trees from across the San Joaquin Valley that would otherwise be lost forever. At the lathe, she lets the wood lead. The grain, the knots, the natural character of each species tells her how to cut, how to shape, and how to finish. No two pieces are ever alike — because nature doesn't make duplicates, and neither does Julia.

Why Our Bowls
There is no story behind a mass-produced bowl. Julia knows the story behind every single piece she makes — where the tree stood, what species it was, how old it was when it was saved, and the steps it took to get from fallen timber to finished art. That story comes home with every piece you buy.
No two pieces alike
Shaped at the lathe by hand
Rescued from the Valley
Finished for a lifetime of use
A Piece of the Valley made for your home
Every piece Julia makes started as a tree somewhere in the San Joaquin Valley — one that fell, was cleared, or would have been lost. She saves it, turns it by hand, and finishes it to live in your home for generations. Beautiful enough for your dining table. Meaningful enough to become part of every gathering around it.
The Process
The Wood is Rescued
Every piece begins outside — with a tree that fell in a storm, was cleared from a property, or would otherwise have been lost from the San Joaquin Valley forever. Julia selects each piece of wood herself, by hand, for its grain, its species, and what she sees in it.
Shaped at the Lathe
At the lathe, the wood begins to speak. Julia follows the grain, works around the knots, and lets the natural character of each piece guide the final form. Sometimes epoxy resin fills a void. Sometimes a knot becomes the focal point. The wood tells her what it wants to become.
Finished to Last
Once shaped, every piece is sanded, finished, and ready for the life you'll give it — whether that's a fruit bowl on your counter, a lidded vessel on your mantel, or a keepsake box passed down through your family. Each one leaves the shop with its own story intact.

★★★★★
Julia has a rare artistic gift—she doesn’t simply create pieces; she reveals the beauty already within the wood. Her ability to envision what each piece can become is remarkable, transforming raw materials into stunning tables, benches, bowls, and canisters that are both functional and deeply meaningful.
Every piece she creates is truly one of a kind, crafted with care, intention, and heart. Bringing one of Julia’s works into your home means adding not just a beautiful object, but a story, a vision, and a lasting expression of artistry.

The wood comes from the San Joaquin Valley. It is wood that I look for in orchards, the foothills, the mountains, and even local trees in Fresno.
-
I used a shellac-based friction polish that produces a hard, shiny finish when turned at high speeds and applied at the lathe. The friction polish heats up to produce a durable, high gloss finish.

Every few months, you should buff the bowl with a dust-free, soft cloth. You can add a little furniture paste wax to the buffing process, if you’d like to add lustre.
-
After use, wash your charcuterie board with dish soap and hot water. Let it dry completely. When your board seems to be drying out (as wood will when washed in water), just apply food-safe mineral oil and let it soak into the board. This will completely restore its shine and preserve the wood!
